Ou une histoire, celle de Mortinsteinck, le film : un jeune homme en tue un autre. De remords et de tristesse, il part s’engager dans la Légion étrangère…
Le livre dans sa progression, renvoie au format choisi pour le film - la viéo ordinaire S-VHS : il ne cherche pas l’image en plus (un supplément, voire un enrichissement) ou la belle image, mais une image de moins, défectueuse, hétérogène, ouverte.
Scenario excerpts, snippets of conversation , news flashes, a budding thought, a poem, autobiographical fragments, photos, drawings, diagrams : what are essentially narrative devices can’t help but tell stories.
The story of Mortonsteinck, the film : a young man kills another. Regret and sadness compel him to enlist in the French Foreign Legion. The book evolves in a manner recalling the format chosen for the film -ordinary S-VHS video : it doesn’t use the image as an embellishment (to supplement or enrich), but as something absent, defective, heterogeneous, open.
