Collection de “rêves endormis” pour le projet ‘Collection’ de la DRAC Nord/Pas-de-Calais, du Louvre-Lens et des villes de Liévin, Sallaumines, Harnes et Grenay. Désireux de créer à la fois une collection impossible et un portrait paradoxal du Bassin Minier et de ses habitants, gethan&myles ont travaillé avec une douzaine de groupes (clubs sportif, crèches, PMI, CCAS, Éhpad et les clubs colombophiles si populaires dans cette région) dans les quatre villes associées pour rassembler et incarner leurs rêves et leurs cauchemars. Cette collection a donné suite à cinq installations éphémères : des fragments de rêves ont été inscrits dans la feuille d’or et posés sur l’écorce des arbres dans cinq bois (situés dans les zones des quatre villes partenaires et au Louvre-Lens). Les co-créateurs ont ensuite découvert ces installations (et pour beaucoup ces bois) en compagnie des artistes. Les rêves ont aussi été lâchés dans les ‘évasions’ / happenings (une inversion de la liberté illusoire du pigeon voyageur - dont le voyage est toujours un retour à sa cage - si chère aux mineurs locaux), et constituaient la matière première des œuvres montrées dans l’exposition ‘Collection’: où toutes les œuvres et tous les participants étaient réunis. Chaque co-créateur, ainsi que le public de l’exposition, a reçu une édition numérotée de l'œuvre textuelle (impression en noir et blanc avec feuille d'or) où tous les rêves sont rassemblés. Un site dédié montre la collection intégrale ainsi que les photos des installation éphémères.

Dreams of Leaving is simultaneously an impossible, intangible collection and an intimate ‘group self-portrait’ of the people of the Bassin Minier (former coal-mining heartland of France where unemployment and social/geographical mobility are big problems). It was created with over a dozen community groups - daycare centres, sports clubs, libraries, community outreach, old people’s homes and the extremely popular homing pigeon clubs - in four former coal-mining villages. Dreams… unified their dreams and their nightmares (which were gathered in in-depth talking/writing workshops) giving them a shared space, a form and a voice. The collection resulted in five ephemeral installations: dream-fragments were embossed into gold leaf and applied to the bark of trees in five woods (found near the four villages and at the Louvre-Lens). Co-creators then discovered these installations (and for many the woods) accompanied by the artists. The dreams were also ‘lachés’ (set free/released) in ‘évasions’/happenings (an inversion of the illusory freedom of the ‘pigeon voyageur’ - whose voyage is always one back to his cage - so cherished by the local miners), and were the basis of the suite of works shown in the ‘Collection’ exhibition: where dreams, artworks and participants were reunited. All co-creators and visitors to the exhibition received a limited-edition, black and white and gold-leaf print featuring all the dreams. A dedicated website shows the entire dream collection as well as photos of the ephemeral installations.
